A Pause and A Prayer

July 17, 2024
Hello Beautiful Community!

I hope you are well, enjoying the breeze and drinking lots of water 😉

Some of you already heard about my plans to join the Peace and Dignity Journeys for a few days. It was an incredibly powerful experience of being continually in ceremony, engaging with various indigenous communities, grassroots support, sharing danza and songs, running in a heat wave, meeting other runners all coming into this with huge open hearts.  It was so powerful that in fact I am being called to continue with them into Central America!

For those I haven’t had the chance to gush about it to:

It’s an amazing prayer/endeavor uniting indigenous peoples across the western hemisphere. It’s about the namesake prayers- for Peace and Dignity.  It is about traditions and sacrifice and gratitude and joy, it’s about resilience and celebration,  it’s about introspection and connecting to our intuition and honoring Tlatoah– the sacred breath of life/heart truth communicated with careful speech and action, learning to honor our palabra. To be authentic to the way we are created for we each have a purpose; and that is to be our own particular self! The world needs all of our quirks and ways to heal, ways to befriend, ways to create and care for each other.

Runners began in May from Alaska and Tierra del Fuego, Argentina heading toward each other over the course of 7 months to the meeting place in Colombia.

Running is a traditional form of communication…runners carry news, and communicate  with nature, with spirit.  With each beat of our feet on the ground we send vibrations to the land, with each intake of breath we are united to spirit. It is in itself a prayer. We run as a form of healing, a reweaving of ourselves into the land and communities and strengthening our bonds; acknowledging our responsibilities to the earth and each other.

Aside from the prayers in our hearts and bodies we are carrying the prayers of communities across Aba Yala/Turtle Island/america in the form of  Prayer Staffs. These are honored as elders and are handled with great care and respect. They are made by communities in need of healing…we carry prayers for water, for missing and murdered indigenous peoples, for unity, for the youth, for those in recovery and those who suffer from addiction, for the elements, for our animal relatives…and all are lead by a main staff- here in the north we carry the eagle staff and in the south they carry the condor. They come together uniting the people, energies, prayers of the peoples of the land.

Before I get toooo carried away in sharing about  the beauty and depth of meaning of this sacred camino (path), I need to tend to the business of humbly asking your forgiveness for a rather sudden change in scheduling.

My plan for now is to meet in Kumeyaay Territory (what is called San Diego) and continue through AZ, MX, and Guatemala to return in October. I’m also realizing with each day that I might just need to see it through to Colombia…which would have me out through November. 😉

Either way, i’m looking forward to greeting you again on the other side

I will miss sharing healing treatments, conversations, laughter and tears with you. I hope you’ll continue to feel the good energy I send to each of you. It is already teaching me how to listen better, how to trust in my intuition as guidance from ancestors, teaching me patience and about my privilege, teaching me history, enfolding me in gratitude and fortifying my belief that we must heal together.

If you’re interested in learning more and/or are moved to support the run, check out the links below, and look for Peace and Dignity Journey on social media. There are several accounts with info about different regions….search for your area!

I’ll try to share a bit on my Instagram or facebook along the way too!

Donations to general PDJ run funds will help with transportation van maintenance, gas, supplies, water and snacks, organizing and whatever else comes up! This is a strictly grass roots run endeavor. No big sponsors just the will of the people. Every donation helps! Si se puede!
